Spinning

Gretchen on her first road trip.

So, yeah I have a spinning wheel and I make yarn.

Once we got settled in NH I told Jim that I had always wanted to learn to spin yarn. And low and behold the opportunity landed in my lap on the day the late owner of the houses’ mum came to call. The lady that came to my rescue that day was the best friend of the late owner and she was very impressed with my studio setup and my jeweler and just had to get me in touch with someone or other and told me to expect a call and out the door they went… I never expected to hear from them again or the lady she said would call me. Boy was I wrong. This chick calls me back in about 45 minutes later and says this Diane person would call me in about an hour. I thought sure, right, whatever. I have a house to finish getting organized. But the next day about 4:30 in the after noon (about an hour later in Diane Time I would come to find out) a very sweet sounding lady called and invited me to every activity going in this tiny town. Which I must say, is the busiest little town in the world! I had more to do here than I ever did in Colorado Springs!! I said no to most things but Friday morning breakfast sounded ok. I thought I could drum up some business (and I did) and get french toast too. Bonus!!! Well over the course of breakfast (which I finally went to some time in September, Diane heard me say I had just got my loom and I was loving it. So, of course Diane had an activity that revolved around fiber and such and of course I was welcome. I am so thankful that Diane never gave up on me. She kept calling and I finally caved in and went. I took my crocheting and off I went to meet new people and to drum up more business, and I met some of the best friends I now have. Donna and Ken and Jen and Berry and Diane and her husband and Wendy and her hubby and Anne and family and both Julies and of course their families. Such amazing, talented, kind, loving, giving, and FUN people. Over the next year they taught me to spin. With a wheel I borrowed from Diane and a wheel Jen helped me buy to the amazing wheel Jim bought me, I have spun some amazing yarns…
